VP Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion

The VP EDI Sr. role leads the larger EDI portfolio. In addition to the VP EDI Sr., this portfolio consists of the VP EDI Jr., MSAP Sr. & Jr. for Student Support, and MSAP Sr. & Jr. for Education. Through our roles, we seek to center and take lead from equity-seeking student groups, who have traditionally been underrepresented in our student body, program, and governance structures. Part and parcel of this role, relating to its commitment to anti-oppression, is to further develop transparency and accountability within the Medical Society’s structures.

VP Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Sr.

About Me

I often think about the ways we (don’t) interact with the more-than-human world, what it means for our health, and how this practice of medicine is seemingly so far removed from our larger communities, both human and non-human.

1) Develop a structure for the portfolio and further shape each of the roles
2) Strengthen avenues of communication and representation among equity-seeking student groups and the EDI portfolio
3) Develop rapport with EDI-related committees and faculty members
4) Identify cultural and structural aspects of the Medical Society that are conducive to anti-oppression and aspects that can be improved
5) Build avenues of communication between the VP EDI Sr. & Jr. positions and other positions in the Medical Society

About Me

Hi friends! My name is Parnika (par-nee-ka) and I use she/her pronouns. In my spare time, I enjoy keeping up with pop culture, hiking and camping, and bingeing objectively bad TV. I am a fan of cats, thrift shopping, good coffee, and exploring the city. I also completed a liberal arts degree in my undergrad, so I am always happy to chat with anyone who has had similar experiences navigating medicine as a non-traditional student!
